U.S. News and World Report ranks 25 best NYC high schools. See which S.I. school is on the list.
2 min readSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The U.S. News and World Report has released its annual ranking of New York CIty’s top high schools.
Staten Island Technical High School was the only borough school to make the list, ranking seventh in the city.
The specialized high school also finished seventh in the state and 63rd among the top 100 schools in the country.
Schools are weighted on six indicators, including college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency based on state exams, math and reading performance, underserved student performance and graduation rates.
This year, U.S. News adjusted its calculations to account for the cancellation of state testing in spring 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The number of high-ranking schools varies per state. Thirteen high schools in Arizona are featured in the top 100 — the most of any state. Florida and New York are close behind, with 11 schools each in the top 100.
